Inspection, Testing & Certification
The Regulations emphasises the importance of safety. Electrical installations and equipment can be dangerous if not installed and maintained properly. Poorly installed or maintained installations can result in electric shocks and fires causing, on occasions, serious damage, injury or even death. Under Regulations, domestic properties are required to be inspected and a certificate issued every 10 years or when there is a change of occupancy. Landlords have specific legal obligations regarding Electrical Installations and Portable Appliances. The Regulations also require that new or altered installations are fully inspected, tested and certified.
